ReplyDeleteI want to answer Question#4.
Actually, I don’t think it is a good way to release endangered animals back to the wilderness because they might have lost their abilities to survive in the wild area by themselves already. Zookeepers take care of them and protect them very well; therefore, I think those animals lose their natural and original characters that they should have. So, it would be better if they can stay in a zoo until they recover and regain their natural abilities to live in a wild area. In order to train those animals to find their instincts back, the zookeepers can give them some training, such as imitating a wild environment, giving them some challenges and mimicking some situations that they might encounter in the wild area. Hence, they can regain their instincts and try to live in wild life preservation. After they adapt well to a preservation area, they will be better to live in a wild area by themselves.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer Question# 3.
I think our government should do some surveys and draw up the areas which have more numbers of animals, plants or the species and not to destroy their habitats if the freeway project is going to go. Besides, the government should protect those habitats and train some people to take care of them. If the freeway project has to use the area where relate to the habitats and wildlife, people should try our best to rebuild a place for them in order to preserve the species and give them a good habitats to live. And as the common people, we should feel grateful for having the freeway to use and should not destroy the road and the environment which should be belong to the animals and plants originally. In that case, we can enjoy the convenient of the freeway and preserve the varieties of species.

One habitat is in the Wu Gu town of Taipei county. It is a habitat for dragon flies. There are about 150 kinds of dragon flies. 17 of them are new kinds. The most at risk is Mortonagrion hirosei. There are several marshes between fresh water and salt water. Many of them were opened ground. Little by little, there is no longer be their habitat.

Actually, the most direct way to protect the habitats and wildlife is stop the project. Once the government built the freeway, the habitats must have certain damages and the wildlife must be threatened because people disrupt the eastward ecosystem. In addition, that is the reason why a lot of environmentalists boycott the project in the legislature and launch a demonstration protesting the project.
However, if the government insists on doing the project, the engineers have to come up with a solution that juggles the environmental protection and the safe roadway. For example, they need to avoid the unnecessary excavation of the large land so that they can preserve the natural resource as much as possible.

As we all know the the 88 floods caused great damage to Taiwan especiall to the eastern regions. It also destroyed about 70% of the habitates of butterflies in Taidong County, whcih result in 250 million disapperance of butterflies. And the ecologists say it is very hard to rebuild the habitates.

Arbitrarily releasing endangered animals will damage the balance of ecosystem. There are two main problems will be caused. First, those released endangered animals will meet the difficulty to adapt themselves to the wilderness, so they are easily dead. Second, if those endangered animal do survive, the sudden accelerating of this kind of species will threaten the animals and plants which have existed in this area and break its original food chain. Besides, those endanger animals which are raised by people have already loss their natural ability to live on their own. I think it is better and safer to keep these endangered animals in a zoo or a wild life preservation area.

No, I disagree with that. My hometown is Nan’ao countryside,Yilan county. I would went there every year for vacation. Though Syueshan tunnel brings us convenient, fast and superior quality of transportation, there is less beautiful scene we can see today. I remember when I was child and passed through the Suao, I would open the widow. I like the sea, and like to feel the wind blowing. However, if we have to build the Suao-to-Hualien freeway, we will lose many beautiful scenes and even destroy the ecology.

I think I agree with the construction of Suao-to-Hualien freeway because people living in eastern part of Taiwan need a safer road. As we can see from TV, several weeks ago, another disaster happened on the SuHua coastal road. Many tourists from China passed away. This accident will not be the last one if our government doesn't take any action to build a safer road. I believe in terms of such tremendous infrastructure, we can strike a balance between development and environment protection. We shouldn't disagree the construction of Suao-to-Hualien freeway; instead, we should supervise the quality of the freeway as it is being constructed and supervise whether the authorities and builders can collaborate to lower the possible harm to our environment.

No, i think we should keep endangered animal in a save place, such as zoos. Because we have to make sure that they would generate more little ones before we put them into wild area. I think we should not take risk of losing more endagered animals. Therefore, i think the best way is to help them to get more little child. I think the zoo would be better, because they won't be beated by other animals and would have their own life area.

I think people should release endangered animals back to the wilderness but people also have to observe the conditions of those animals for a while after releasing them. Animals may become weaker if they are kept in a zoo or a wild life preservation area for a long time, so it would take some time for them to adapt to the new habitats. Therefore, we had better observe for a while in case that they can’t get used to the environment and die.

I don't agree with the construction of Suao-to-Hualien freeway. If the government does build the highway, it will ruin the beautiful scenery, contaminate the undamaged, natural and clean environment and make the quality of lives go down. The highway will also bring lots of pollution. The negative impacts of the highway are more than the positive impacts.
The first area that will be damaged by the Hualien highway will be the natural environment. Natural scenery is Hualien’s treasure; however, the fantastic environment will quite likely disappear if this highway is built. The other field which will be devastated by the Hualien highway will be Hualien’s tourism. Tourists come to Hualien to see nature and beautiful scenery, not artificial production. If the government really builds the Haulien highway, the plain will be divided into two small pieces. If the plain is cut into two pieces, the view will be cut, too.

In my point of view, I don’t think it will be better to release the endangered animals back to the wilderness because their habitats have been damaged by human beings for a long time, and they are unable to live on their own.
I think the best way to preserve those endangered animals is to keep them in the wild life preservation areas. Those animals can not only still live in their suitable wilderness but also being protected under human beings’ control.

I think government should set up a preservation area for those endangered animals, rather to send them back to wildness or keep them in zoos. Preservation area provides endangered animals both nature conservation and better care from experts. Living in preservation areas can not only protect animals from being hurting by people, but also keep them from being prisoning in small cages in zoos. Therefore, I think it would be bertter to set a wild life preservation area for them.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer Question#3.
Before starting to build up the freeway, government should evaluate the whole environment first, especially in conservation of water and soil. By a complete evaluation, we can know more about our environment, do the least harmful way during the development, and try to make a good balance between developing countries and protecting nature.
I think government can also set up more national preserves to protect habitats and wildlife. By setting up new national preserves, we can protect our beautiful nature and can also appreciate beautiful scenery at the same time.
I think if they have taken a full consideration and those endangered animals have been well trained to adjust themselves in the wilderness, then it’s worth trying to let them return to the places where they originally belong to.
ReplyDeleteOf course it’s safer to keep them in a zoo; however, it’s not better. Looking those animals which are shut in a zoo, you will find they have no energy; they are just walking around in a small space, and wait for death. On the other hand, those living in wilderness seem happier and full of energy. Though it’s harder for them to live in the wild, we should respect to their original life style.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer question 4.
I think it's a good way to release endangered animal back to the wildness. Before releasing them back to the wildness, we, people, must have considered all the factors, such as the health of the animal, or the places where those animals will go. I think that the most important reason to release them back to the wildness is that animals can reproduce their own kind, which is much useful than human's help. If we always keep those endangered animals in zoo, they will not reproduce their own and they will need to rely on human's help. And the number of those endangered animals will not increase if they are keep in the zoo.
So i think it's a proper way to release those endangered animals back to the wildness.

I don’t think it will be a proper way to release the endangered animals back to the wildness. They already get used to the well care. Because of the care, these endangered animals lost their ability of living. If they go back to the wildness, they can not live by themselves. Besides the habitats where they are used to live may already be destroyed. So, I think it would be more proper to keep them in the zoos or the wild life preservation area. These places should provide those endangered animals the environment that is similar to where they are used to living, and provide the best care.

I don't agree to build the Suao-to-Hualien freeway. If we try to build it, we will broken the ecosystem also, and huamn will be influned through the all ecosystem cycle. Environment of Suao-to-Hualien will be chaned, and many creatures will lose thier homes. The nature will be changed also. Forest Why don't we just try to protect the nature instead of thinking about how to change it into our benifit.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer question#4
No, I don’t think it’s proper for people to release endangered animals back to the wilderness. First, whether those endangered animals can adapt the new environment or not should be taken into consideration. Those animals have been under good care by human for a long time. They don’t have to find their food by themselves and they don’t have to worry about other competitors or hunters. Once we put them back to the wilderness, I don’t think they still have the ability to live by their own. Moreover, even those endangered animals can live in the wilderness by themselves successfully, we can’t make sure that they won’t be chased or killed by any hunters. So, in my opinion, I think the best way to solve this problem is to set a wild life preservation area that people can’t intrude.

In terms of recent wilderness condition, I don't think it's proper to release endangered animals back. Because recently the pollution of the world is getting worse and worse, the environment becomes dangerous to not only animals but also human. If the endangered animals are released back to the wilderness, I think the number of them would decrease. However, if they are kept in a zoo or in wild life preservation area, they would get proper care. So I think it's better to keep them in an environment that human could provide professional care than in wilderness.

I thinke it's better to keep these endangered animals in a preservation area. There are too many uncertain dangers that they might encounter in the wildness. I do not agree on releasing endangered animals backto the wildness. Because these animals have lost part of their ability of seeking to live, releasing themback to the wildness might cause their death.
I suppose that keep them in a wild life preservation area rather than in the zoo.
These animals dont have the righ to choose their living place, but if we put ourselves in their shoes, we won't be happy to live in the zoo,in which we live like a prisoner. On the other hand, living in the preservation area, these animals would feel more at ease.

In my opinion, releasing endangered animals back to the wilkerness is good for those animals; however, it should be controled. In other words, the process of releasing should be carefully examined and properly managed. We can not directly release them back to the wilderness; instead, we should help them get used to the "new" environment slowy. Eventualy, when they get used to the whole environment, we then release them back to the wilderness completely.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer Question#4
In fact, if the habitat is the one that endangered animals originated from, it could be a try to release them back. In the beginning, this experiment could just put some endangered animals there for experiment. By observing and recording them, the consequence will turn out whether it is proper to release them back. If it were good result, the experiment should keep going. And vice versa.
For the second question, I think there’s no exact answer whether to keep them in zoo or a wild life preservation area. To stay in the zoo, there would be zoo staff to take of them and vet to check their health. They don’t have to worry for food and shelter. However, they may lose their ability to attack and compete for living under such great environment. On the other hand, to live in a wild life preservation area, animals originally should live there. It is a natural environment. They have their own ability to maintain their own lives. The point is that if it could be, the specialist could take the sick animals to zoo and take care of them, otherwise, just let them live on their own which is good the them.

I think it's a good way to release endangered animals back to the wildness, because, by doing so, it can train how to live in the wildness. Maybe keeping the endangered animals in the zoo will be safer to them. However, they will lose their ability to live in the wildness. But, in the wild life preservation area, we should take good care of them. We aren't only protecting them, but also training them.

I agree that government should build the Suao-to-Hualien freeway, but government should make the destruction of wildlife and habitats the lowest. Although building the freeway will harm our ecological environment, the Suao-to-Hualien highway is too dangerous to drive across it. So, government should make the destruction lowest before building new freeway.

In my opinion, it is good to release them back to the wildness, but there is a potential problem: government will have difficulty counting whether those evil hunters will hunt them or not. Another issue is that this should be under the presumption that these animals can produce its way of living better than that in the zoo. Maybe it would be much safer for them to stay in the zoo, but it should be better for them to get back to the nature, but you should provide them some additional protection anyway. If they can live without those limitation in the zoo, and still being protected, their production should increase in that case.

I do not think it is proper for people to do so. Since they are already endangered, who will know what will happen to them? They may not have the ability to adjust themselves to the wilderness because they have been taken care of by human for a long time. Therefore I think it it would be better and safer to keep them under human's protection. such as a zoo or a preservation area. Development in a developing country like us is always necessary, but like the problems that the issue of global-warming has, people have to make decision between protecting our environment and progressing our country. So I suggest if we build a freeway for ourselves, we must also consider the original residences there by building another freeway for them. In that case, we can make sure that both we and the habitats could have a great communication.

I don't think it is a good idea to release those endangered animals back to the wilderness because once we release them, we can't really predict what will happen to them, and it might further reduce members of these endangered animals. Therefore, I think it's betterto keep them in a zoo or a wild life preservation area. Maybe some people will argue that keeping animals in a zoo might deprive freedom of animals. However, I do believe those zoos or preservation areas of today are carefully planned and arranged, so I think those endangered animals can be looked after quite well in zoos or in preservation areas.

I don’t think it’s proper for people to release endangered animals back to the wilderness without any precaution. If the environment doesn’t become better, they will die in the short time. Therefore I think the best way to protect them is to keep them in the zoo at first. For example, pandas in Taipei zoo are safe and be better in living than in the wild. There are professional caretakers taking care of them and protecting them from being hurt. In this way, the number of the pandas will increase. This is the first action. For the next step, we can release some of them to wilderness. Actually, they belong to nature and they have their own habitat. However, the most important point is we should make sure that the wild life preservation area is good for them. Therefore we can see them in zoos and those animals can live in nature.

As a Tainanese, and a girl who likes to visit Hualien since her childhood, I’m opposed to the building of the Suao-to-Hualien freeway. I can still remember the brilliant scenery which the sea was melting into the sky in the east coast. This summer vacation, I traveled back to Hualien again. This time, a lot of scenery has lost, and I know there’s nothing we can do with those that has missing. I don’t want my children to miss this beautiful paradise in Taiwan. Since the view and ecology is the one and only place we have and there’s nothing can replace it. I would rather to spend more time on the transmission to Hualien than to make the secondary damage to the ecology.
Building the freeway will bring people convenience and tourists(of course includes the income) and shorten the time of transmission. But the ecological balance will be destroyed and I believe that even the government can’t guarantee us that the freeway won’t become the second dangerous highway when the earthquake or typhoon hit Taiwan.
Whether or not to build the Suao-to-Hualien freeway should be decided by the referendum by the residents in the east coast, because it is their homeland and it will affect their living.

ReplyDeleteQuestion# 4.
Many of the exotic creatures we see in national zoos all around the world are usually endangered species or animals that are rapidly falling in numbers. The sole reason these disappearing animals are no longer seen in the wild and only in national zoos is because the natural habitat that they used to live in has been completely destroyed. Therefore, living in zoos and captive are the only option for these species to survive. If they are released into the wild, the habitat they are released into must be made sure that it is sustainable and will not be destroyed by industrialism and development of cities and towns. The only other better choice for releasing animals into the wilderness, is to release them into well organized and well managed preservation areas or national parks that provide them the space and natural habitat to live in.

We shouldn't release those endangered animals back to wildness. I think there are still a lot of people who are not well-educated in protecting our endangered animals. If we put those endangered animals back to wildness, people may catch them for money, for trading, even just for fun. Also, I think we shouldn't keep those endangered animals in a zoo, because people who visit the zoo may disturb their body schedule. Those animals should be protected in preservation areas which have well protecting systems.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer Question#4
I think we should release those endangered animal back to wildlife. First of all, it's their nature. It's where they are for. They are born for wildness, not for being taking care of by human-beings. No matter what good sources and care we can provide, it still against the natural law. Keeping them in the zoo will only lead them to a stage of forgetting how to survive by themselves. And then, in my opinion, they will lose their beauty as being wild animals, they are nothing more than our daily pets. Secondly, when it comes to safety issue, I believe we do have some source to provide them a safe zone to live on in the wildlife. That is what animal laws are for.
For the second question, as I have mention, putting them in a zoo is like putting people in the jail. There are too much limitations, and even worse, we provide too much care for them which will make them losing the nature of hunting, the nature of surviving themselves in the wild life. So I think we should put them in the wild life preservation area. However, we should really take good care of the safety issue. Prevent them from hunting down by those evildoers.

Now, in the current situation in Taiwan, I think it is evitable to build the Suao-to-Hualien freeway. Taking the consideration of security of passengers, the government has their pressure of the public opinions to do so.
And I believe as the freeway is built up, most people can benefit from it. However, in this case, we often ignore that under our welfare, it is the wild animals and their habitats taking the costs. I think it is no way to “protect” them while building the freeway, what we can do our best is only to make it up in a negative way such as implementing of the Wildlife Conservation Law and strengthening the promotion of wildlife conservation. These may be able to fix a few damages of the environment, but nothing can make up for what they have suffered.

ReplyDeleteI want to answer question#4.
Actually, I do not think that releasing endangered animals back to the wildness is such a good idea. The reason why animals are getting endangered is that environments where they dwell have been changed due to human development. Their habitats have been dramatically changed so that they do not have enough time to adapt themselves to the new environments. That is, the wildness is no longer the best places for wild animals to stay.
Instead of putting endangered animals back to the wildness that they no longer familiar with, we can build wildlife preservation areas as a substitution. We build up preservations to ensure endangered animals have the best care and work on conservation plans. Different from keeping endangered animals in a zoo, preservations should also provide training to help those animals establish abilities of living. Keeping wildlife in a zoo is like keeping them in a jail. Wild animals lose their esteem as being free wildlife, and thus living in miserable a life.

No, it is not proper to release endangered animals back to the wilderness because we know little about the animals. If we discard these animals randomly, they end up dying. The best way to deal with these animals is to call to some animal protection agency for help. They must know more about the endangered animals than us. Besides, I think it is better for these animals to live in a preservation area. Usually, the place for animals in the zoo is limited and it is painful for them. If I were the animal, I would prefer to live in wildlife to a zoo.

We could focus on a habitat where “species” live on. In 2009, a report said Taiwan military fires into the surroundings of endangered dolphins. A dwindling population of Chinese white dolphins was at risk from howitzers in the Da-an River (大安溪) Estuary in Miao-Li county(苗栗縣) on Taiwan's west coast, a major habitat for the exclusive species. The population is unique to Taiwan, with skin pigmentation and other attributes not generally found in other Chinese white dolphin populations in Asia. What connects and brings this dolphin to the news report is petition against Kuo-Kuang Petrochemical Corporation (國光石化). Since the IUCN (the International Union for Conservation of Nature) placed the dolphin population on its "red list," the current administration of President Ma seems done little to protect the animal.

As for me, I think that it is not proper for people to release endangered animals back to the wildness because of some reasons. First of all, some hunters will kill those animals or keep them as pets. Besides, they will acquire better nourishments and protections in a zoo or a wild preservation since they are almost extinct. Also, keeping endangered animals in a zoo or a wild presservation teaches people a lesson. People will learn to respect wild animals in case they die out.

The issue of restoring animals to rehabilitated land remains debatable. I think this practice can let animals embrace nature, but the prerequisite is a well-rounded plan, because animals bred by zoos have trouble to acclimate to nature where predators are surrounding and source of food can’t be ensured. It takes time and effort for animals to embrace nature again!

To point out a "fallacy" in question N0.3, in a word, when we project a highway (or any other alternatives “people-made” road), it’s impossible to protect the habitats and wildlife. Natural scenery is Hualien’s treasure; however, the fantastic environment will be quite likely to disappear if this highway is built. In some aspects, business interests looking to promote local economic development in sparsely populated Hualien have been at odds for over a decade with environmentalists who fear the freeway is more likely to destroy natural beauty instead of attracting more tourists. In fact, according to the information from Taiwan’s government, there will be eleven tunnels for forty kilometers long in the highway. It means the government will have to bomb the mountains in order to make tunnels. This way, the environment of forest and animals will totally change for it actually violates the natural law. It will be an ecocatastrophe for Hualien. For this reason, I `m against this project

I don't think it's proper to release endangered animals back to the wildness. They should be given fully care, and of course not being kept in zoo. There are too many people in zoo, it would disturb them. Government should build a place big and comfortable enough to keep them, such as preservation area, as long as they could receive perfect attend, they could live as lively as they can in wildness, although it's a artificial environment. Regulations concerned with endangered animals should also be made in order to apply to the system of preservation area.
I don't think it's a good idea to realese endangered species back into the wilderness, the reason being that there was and still IS a reason why these species are endangered, namely the stupidity and selfishness of the human race. And as long as we as a race don't change our behaviour it is not safe for them out there. I think it is best to keep them in special areas where people who mean no harm can watch over them.
